Dental Sedation
A More Relaxed Experience
If you find that visiting the dentist leaves you feeling uneasy, or you simply dread sitting in the chair for long periods of time, then dental sedation may be right for you.
At Canyon Creek Dental Clinic, our sedation options can help make your visit a breeze by easing your anxiety and making time seem to fly by.
Our dentists use either nitrous oxide (laughing gas) or oral sedation (in liquid or pill form) to make patients more comfortable during dental procedures. Our dentist would be happy to speak with you if you would like to learn more about how these options may benefit you.
We also prioritize communication. We know how important it is during dental procedures, especially when they are lengthy or when our patients are feeling anxious. To this end, we will work at your pace, take breaks when you need them, and provide calm reassurance to help you feel more comfortable throughout your entire visit.
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Nitrous oxide, more commonly known as laughing gas, is administered through a mask placed over the patient's mouth and nose. Inhaling this medication provides a calming effect, while allowing patients to remain awake and able to communicate. Nitrous oxide can also help to reduce anxiety, increase pain threshold, alleviate gag reflex and make time seem to pass more quickly.
Oral Sedation
Oral sedatives are commonly used in dentistry as a way to help patients manage anxiety and fear associated with dental procedures. These medications are usually prescribed by your dentist in pill or liquid form and taken orally before the appointment. Oral sedation helps to calm the patient, allowing them to feel more relaxed and comfortable during the procedure.
